okay so i was downtown at a car meet we have every other friday or so everyone left besides me and a few friends. Well we all end up taking off all going in separate directions. As i pull out i take a left at a light and go down till the next stop light. The light is red so i sat there till it turned green. I take a left on a one way and give my car a little less than 3/4 of a throttle and hit vtec and shift early at about 30 to 2nd and just cruise from there. turn my signal on and go over 2 lanes to a turn lane. (Not fast but turn into the next lane wait a second then turn to the next one) Go right at a light then go under a overpass go straight threw another light and a cop halls ass up to me and rides my ass then flicks on his lights. I pull over into a parking lot and he comes up and asks if i knew why he pulled me over. So i said no cause i honestly didn't see what i did wrong. He asks for my license, registration, and insurance. So i hand him my license and registration and my old insurance card for my truck i sold awhile back. 9 <--- wtf did i do that?? Because the last cop who pulled me over for not signaling soon enough didn't give it back) Anyways he proceeds to ask me why he cant read my license and i explain to him the dmv wont give me a new one and they keep giving me a stupid sticker to put on my license which wares out after a week. So i have to spell and tell him everything on my license. After that he asks about the insurance and was a dick and didn't believe me i am waiting on my insurance to mail me new cards. Then after that he asks me how much i have had to drink tonight and i told him non cause i haven't had anything to drink i was 100% sober. Then asks me what i was doing downtown and i told him i was just chilling with some friends downtown, and he asks where so i told him and he was like what do all u guys do in your cars down there anyways? And i told him we just chill and talk about cars and show em off and stuff. And he was all like NO WHAT do u guys really do? And then said we do what i just said and thats all. (Which is the complete truth thats all we do, no street racing or anything stupid) After that he walks to his car about 10 minutes later walks back and hands me a ticket with the following,

Speed racing on hwy
(exhibition of speed) -$472

Unsignalled lane change -$142

Fail to carry proof insurance -$287

Then tells me my exhaust is too loud and he isnt going to write me a ticket for that cause he didnt want to fill out another slip, then says it better be fixed if i ever see u again or else i will ticket u.

He then says sorry to ruin your night (like a dick) and walks off and speeds off, dosnt use his signal to turn back to the road.

God i hate cops so much. This whole thing is bullshit. I didn't speed, i wasnt on a fucking highway i was in the middle of downtown medford,or which is a 2 and some parts 3 lane street with speed limits of anywere from 20-35.

Needless to say i needed to vent (hence this post)

Anyways thank god i have a lawyer and hopefully he can get this bullshit dropped for me..

Dont you need to know how fast he was going? last time I checked cops are not trained to judge how fats an object is moving........ that's why they have radar guns.... i'd be asking to see the cops dash cam... that right there can prove about your signal as for insurance that cop is an idiot..... as long as you have your policy number and insurance company you dont need a pink slip..... pink slips take like a week or two to be mailed out.... and if your truck had the same policy number on it which is most likely does then your fine. Its always good to know laws when a cops try this bs as long as your polite about it.

If i knew at the time that all radar guns have a 1% +/- error rate I would have saved myself a 400 tow and a week suspended liscence cause I got caught doing exactly 50 over in a 100 so i was doing 150... so if I had said to the cop give me that 1% and being it down to 148.5 I woulda been driving home lol

Its so bs. Also i didnt add there wasn't a car anywhere near me, so i guess i was racing myself?? gay. And yeah the insurance part will get dropped, i just have to go to my insurance company and have them print out a page saying i was under coverage the night i was pulled over. word of advice, write ALL the details down on a piece of paper now. When you go to court make sure you have everything in order, neatly, so you can present it. The first time i went on stand to fight a ticket i was a bit nervous but thanks to writing it all down i had a reference list i was able to check and continue my defense with confidence. Plus by the time trial hits you will most likely have forgotten a lot of details. Trust me, i knew my case inside and out but i would have forgotten stuff over time.

Don't worry to much about it. I have gone to court well over 10-15 times now. I've been on stand countless times having to defend myself. If you go in prepared, with a game plan, don't look like a slob, and always stick to your story you will be fine. Make sure to question the police officer while on stand. But don't act like an asshat, be professional and stick to facts. Facts are the only thing that matter in court, feelings mean fuck all. Request a speed be presented (clocked), request information on what kind of vehicle you were apparently racing, basically just grill him if possible.

Best of luck. Just remember, it's only traffic court. It's nothing to be scared of.

FIGHT IT!!! You can get that insurance dropped as soon as you bring in proof of insurance in the court hall. The "Speed Racing on highway" can get written of EASILY!!! As long as the location on the ticket isn't on the highway then your set. . All you will have to pay for is that no turning signal.

A state highway can be 2 lane or 8 lane. You're not fighting that part of your ticket regardless of the pictures you take. Highways are loosely defined as roadways that connect major parts of a state together and usually have a speed limit of 45, on average.

I am only slowly finding this out after I left Texas. Hell, back home 45 was the speed limit through towns. Every Highway I had been on in Texas was usually 65+. I hate the rest of the US's slow speedlimits!

State of MA: We do highways right Most are 65mph. Some are 55mph. More rural routes are 40-45mph.

Yes, it is your car and you are entitled to do with it as you please, on your own private property. When you're on a road though, you share that with everyone else. It is not yours. For the safety of yourself and others, there are rules, and those rules need to be enforced.


OP: Honestly, take prudz advice. You can get 2/3 of those charges dropped. It does depend on exactly where and when that cop saw you. Most cops have cameras mounted in their cruisers, so if you truly were not speeding away then just get the footage from the cruiser. Boom, you're innocent.

What kind of retarded attitude is that? If you accelerate at a normal pace, there is no reason you couldnt do that. However, "75% throttle up to 30mph" in first gear isnt exactly appropriate for taking off from a stop light.
